IE8 Released - IE 6 Support Discontinued

Microsoft have finally released the stable version of Internet Explorer 8 on the 20 March. IE7 was officially released in 2006 and was made available via Microsoft's automatic update system a little while later. This meant that approximately 95% of Windows users received the upgrade automatically. Microsoft now claim that as little as 1% of Windows users still use IE6 & they officially stopped supporting IE6 at the start of 2007, which meant that not only was it not available for download but also Microsoft would no longer provide security updates for IE6 but would also no longer support any issues found within it.
IE6 has been a complete nightmare for designers and developers because of it's inability to render html and css correctly. This has resulted in a most designs having to use a separate stylesheet specifically for IE6.
With IE8 now officially out of Beta and considered 'stable' we are following the trend set by 98% of
Web Designs / Developers and are no longer supporting IE6 as of the 1st April 2009.
Over the next couple of weeks we will be going through all of our current designs to make sure they are compatible with IE8 and recoding them should any issues be found. If any issues are found then we will of course provide free upgrades to all customers who have purchased them and a newsletter will be sent out as well as a post made here in our news section.
The browsers we currently support include:
- Internet Explorer 7
- Internet Explorer 8
- Firefox
- Safari
- Opera
When Google Chrome has become more stable then we will also support it but currently Google Chrome is not supported.
